I love TURBO JAM!

O.K. so I know I am on P90X, but today was yogaX and I was just not feeling it and needed a break! So instead of being lazy I pulled out turbo jam and blew the dust off it and pushed play. Mind you I have had Turbo Jam for like 4-5 years and I used it maybe twice! Well today I am so glad I pulled out because I had so much fun doing it and I sweated up a storm! I will be sure to keep this in rotation! Especially when I need a change and I might do it as extra cardio in the mornings.

Carbs are the devil after 7:00!

Well they are for me, so before anyone stones me! let me just say that this is my opinon and I know a lot of people who agree me on this subject.

So why do I feel like carbs are the devil after 7pm? Well I feel this way, because when I eat carbs(starchy complex carbs, i.e. potatoes, rice, bread.)after 7pm I find that I start holding on to my weight which makes since if you really think about it.

Why does it make sense? Well if you eat a whole bunch of carbs and then go lay down and watch T.V. and then go to sleep what do you think happens to the carbs in your system? Well let me tell you what happens, carbs are used in our bodies for fuel and are broken down for that reason. If you do not do something to burn off those carbs that you ate your body says "hey I guess were just chillin so I'll go ahead and store these carbs away for a rainy day right on your tush!"

When I decided to change this small thing in my life I really started to see some weight loss! Now please don't take this to the extreme, r example if you work night shift of course you will be eating at different times and if you workout at night you really need to find what works for you. I work out at night a lot and now if it is past 7pm I will have a salad for my carbs and some lean protein.

While this works great for me it might not for you so try it and see if it helps you out.

Please know your risk!

I just found out that my mother is diabetic and it scared the crap out of me! My mother is not obese she is actually quite skinny so this is a shock to me. I am truly worried, because I suffer from low blood sugar, so please take a minute and do this test to find out what your risk level is.

O.K. everyone, I am about to go to sleep for work in the morning, but I wanted to post my P90X day 61 pics for you all! I took them today and while I see slight changes I am greedy and wish I could see more! I went to the store today and tried on this pair of pants that I thought were rally cute and I grabbed a size 11/12 because that is usually the size I wear, and when I tried them on they were HUGE! I didn't try any other pants on because I was in a rush ,but I will at the end of my 90 days, I had already decided not to but any clothes until after my P90X journey, but I just really wanted to try on those pants.

I am at 150 lbs today which is my first goal and pre-preggo weight as you all know ,but I would like to be 140 by the time this round of P90X is over.

I will post measurements later, but I have lost inches!

Falling off the workout wagon!

First of all let me start out by saying if you are reading this because you have fallen off the workout wagon, WELCOME! This article is not to beat you up or make you feel bad because you have had a little detour from your workouts. Falling off the workout wagon happens to almost everyone even the most elite athletes, it happens for various reasons -stress, boredom, injury, and, work obligations to name a few.

Falling off the workout wagon can make you fell like a failure and make you feel like you are going to be stuck in your unfit body forever! Don’t worry you are not alone! Over 50% of people starting a new workout plan will inevitably fall off the wagon within the first 12 months, but don’t worry I have a few tips to help you get back on the wagon and stay on!

There are various things that you can do to spice up your workout life and help make things a little easier, here are a few.

1. Change it up! Doing the same workout over and over again will start to get monotonous and you will be reluctant to continue with it. So if you enjoy running, but the treadmill is just plain boring then get out of the house and go outside for a run if weather permits, why not try spicing up your running routine by going to the track and running some sprints! Try taking the kids with you they’ll love spending the time with you while you all get fit!

2. Get a workout buddy. A workout buddy can really help keep you accountable, when you have someone depending on you tend to be more reliable, because you don’t want to let that person down, and even if you don’t feel like working out chances are once you get with your buddy and start moving you’ll be glad you did. Also its fun to have someone to have a friendly weight loss competition with.

3. Write it down! That’s right, take out that pencil and paper or in this day and age your laptop, and write down your goals and place them somewhere you will see them frequently. When you write down your goals you are more likely to succeed because you are frequently reminded.

4. Tell everyone what you are doing! That’s right! All of your friends and family! This way you are held accountable by everyone. It’s hard to slip up when every where you turn there’s someone watching you.

5. Get out side. Go for a walk or jog! Or you could even go for a bike ride with your kids!

6. Try a fitness based vacation, go somewhere you can enjoy the scenery and get re-energized and do some great fitness based activities such as hiking or swimming.

7. Hire someone to help you with your goals, a personal trainer may be a great choice for you if you are at your wits end and just really need that extra push to get back into the groove.

And last, but not least! Don't give up and don't beat yourself up! If your body needs a rest listen to it and take one but just make sure it's not an extended break!

Are you choosing healthy snacks?

O.K. so sorry I didn't get a chance to put up a new post yesterday but I had a busy day at work and I was super tired when I got home.

Are you choosing healthy snacks? Hopefully you are but chances are your not, choosing a healthy snack can be a daunting task for most. I decided to write this post because I had this issue myself last night. I had a craving for something sweet so I went to my freezer and what did I see? Skinny cow ice cream cones, frozen yogurt, lemonade ice, regular ice cream(for the kiddos). So I decided to go for the cup of lemonade ice until I read the nutrition facts now I know it has sugar but it was the calories that got me. Lets take a look.

So it's not that bad right? Well it is when your like most people and eat the whole cup without looking at the nutrition label, most people would think that since it is in a cup like this, that it is one serving! Well wrong this cup is 3 SERVINGS! So if your the average Joe and you just ate this whole cup you just consumed 300 calories!

So my other choice was the Skinny cow ice cream cones, so lets take a look!

The Skinny cow Ice cream has more calories per serving but you know your only eating one serving! Also this treat does have some fat where as the lemonade has none this treat also has a little more sugar in it. The other difference is that the Skinny cow actually has a little bit of protein in it.

So I guess the point of this post is to make you all aware that you need to check your labels! The lemonade is a good choice if you only eat a serving as well as the Skinny cow, so enjoy your snacks every once in awhile but watch it!

How to maintain your waistline while still being social.

So I am writing this in the car on the way to a wedding, and decided I wanted to do a quick entry about how to keep your self on track while in a social situation such as a wedding. So here my tips when it comes to keeping your diet in check while out.

1. Eat breakfast,it helps start your day off and helps you from overeating.

2. Eat a healthy meal or snack before leaving for your event, you never want to go somewhere there will be temptation on an empty stomach(such as the grocery store!).

3. Plan accordingly,if you know your going to indulge scale back your other calories threw out the day.

4. Don't skip the veggie tray! As a matter of fact hit the veggie tray 1st! Fill up on veggies and leave less room for the goodies.

5.Lean protein,if you have a choice between a steak and a chicken breast go for the breast! It is a great source of low fat protein which will do a great job at feeling you up, but watch out for creamy sauces, because they can pack a fat punch.

6. Sample, when it comes to the desserts of appetizers remember it only takes a little to be truly satisfied. Try using a small plate and trying small portions of your favorite goodies.

7. Water! Drink lots of it because it keeps you hydrated and full. A lot of the time you think your hungry but really your thirsty.

8. Drinking, all I can say on this subject is try light beers and substituting diet soda for regular.

9. Last but not least have FUN! While you want to maintain your waistline you also want to maintain your social life, I mean who wants to be fit and friendless? If you do overindulge just learn from your mistakes do 10 hail Marys and try again next time!

Is P90X for women?

This is a question that I am asked quite frequently the answer is yes! When I began P90X I was under the impression that P90X was mostly for men as well. Well I was pleasantly surprised when I started P90X and realised that anyone could do P90X yes even women! I have meet and talked to many women that are doing P90X and they have said that it makes them feel strong and confident! A lot of females are scared of P90X, because they are scared of bulking up but it takes a great deal of calories and weight for someone to become extremely muscular so have no fears and go for it!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I started this blog because I am a mother of 4 and I am recently 8 months post partum and was feeling extremly unfit and down. I decided that I wanted to do something and do something quick! I decided to start a workout plan and begin going to the gym 4 days a week doing weight training as well as some cardio;however, the weight would not come off! I figured it was, because I was still nursing and that I would be doomed to be overweight until my daughter was done nursing which would be when she is 1-1 1/2 years old.
I am a nigh owl and seem to love infomercials so one night I was watching T.V. and an informercial for P90X came on and I watched it in awe as I always do and said to my self I wish I could look that great in 90 days and then went to sleep still thinking about it. Well the next day at work a friend of mine calls me and say's hey lets order P90X today and we will do it together! Without a second thought I said lets do it and orderded it that day!
This blog will show my progress from start to finish on my P90X journey and I also hope to include great articles and info on other health and fitness related issues. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may be wondering and I will help you in the best way I can, also if you like to take this journey with me please join me by visiting my other site at www.sweatitoutfitness.com I am a Beachbody coach and would love to help you for free!
